Patients in the "normal cohort" had copeptin concentration at weaning from CPB of 194 pmol/L (98-275), postoperative day 1, 27 pmol/L (18-31); and day 3, 8.9 pmol/L (6.3-12). CONCLUSIONS: Regardless of cardiac surgical procedure and perioperative course, all patients had an early significant rise of copeptin concentrations, generally peaking at weaning from CBP or upon arrival in the intensive care unit.

19 male and female subjects, aged 18–53 years (mean 25.8 years), participated in the study. Body weight of all subjects was within the normal range for age, sex, and height, and the BMI was in normal range between 18.5 and 24.9 kg/m 2. Each subject gave written informed consent for the study. Copeptin is a 39-amino acid glycopeptide derived from preprovasopressin and it is cosecreted in the bloodstream with vasopressin in an equimolar ratio in response to osmotic and hemodynamic changes.

Copeptin is a 39-amino acid glycopeptide derived from preprovasopressin and it is cosecreted in the bloodstream with vasopressin in an equimolar ratio in response to osmotic and hemodynamic changes. It is slowly degraded and in healthy individuals normal values of copeptin range between 1.70 and 11.25 pmol/L . Copeptin is the C terminal peptide of proAVP and is co-secreted on an equimolar basis with AVP from the posterior pituitary. Arginine vasopressin (AVP), also known as antidiuretic hormone (ADH), is a hypothalamic polypeptide that is transported along the axons of the synthesizing neurons into the posterior pituitary gland. Copeptin is the stable surrogate marker of vasopressin (VP), which is released in response to elevated plasma osmolality or low blood pressure.
Sep 16, 2014 In a study of healthy controls versus hospitalized patients with increasing levels of stress, copeptin was found to be a more subtle marker of stress

Jun 18, 2014 The typical range of CTproAVP for patients with chronic or acute heart failure is between 10 and 50 pmol/L compared to the normal values of 4–7
The normal range of plasma copeptin levels is from 1.0 to 13.8 pmol/l with higher median levels in men than in women according to two large physiological studies in healthy volunteers [26, 43]. The difference in gender is poorly understood, also because no significant changes during the menstrual cycle were observed [ 44 ]. Copeptin measurement has been shown to be useful in various clinical indications, including the diagnosis of diabetes insipidus and the monitoring of sepsis and cardiovascular diseases. Here we review recent findings regarding the relationship between AVP and copeptin, and affirm the value of AVP as a surrogate marker for AVP. The 97.5th percentile was 11.25 pmol/liter, and the 2.5th percentile was 1.7 pmol/liter. Of all 359 tested volunteers, only nine (2.5%) had a plasma copeptin concentration below the detection limit of the assay of 1.7 pmol/liter. Normal range of copeptin.

This study showed the broad range of copeptin values. The median copeptin plasma concentration was 4.2 pmol/L with a range between 1 and 13.8 pmol/L. Copeptin plasma levels in healthy adults range from 1 to 13 pmol/L and are very sensitive to osmotic and hemodynamic stimuli similarly to AVP [48, 63, 67]. Males show slightly higher copeptin values with minimal difference in median values; age or circadian rhythm does not seem to interfere nor does food intake or menstrual cycle.
Also, the range of copeptin levels was found a wide range in two groups. This result is different from those of other studies.

Copeptin is the stable surrogate marker of vasopressin (VP), which is released in response to elevated plasma osmolality or low blood pressure. Elevated plasma copeptin levels are associated with higher risk of insulin resistance-related disorders, such as type 2 diabetes (T2DM), metabolic syndrome (MS), and cardiovascular disease, and experimental reduction of circulating VP levels is shown

CPAVP : Arginine vasopressin (AVP) and copeptin (also known as copeptin proAVP or copeptin AVP) are derived from the same precursor peptide. Copeptin has been proposed as a more stable, potentially superior, surrogate marker of AVP in the assessment of water balance disorders.
The levels of copeptin are slightly higher in men than in women and are not influenced by age. In response to serum osmolality fluctuations, the kinetics of copeptin are comparable to those of vasopressin.
