Our truck is in Washington St. We are coming home in 3 weeks. I have the opportunity to buy some new tools (Craftsman) at a decent price. The Ranger that I had a couple of trucks ago had a mixture of SAE and Metric bolts. Does the Canyon have the same kind of mixture or should I just by either SAE or Metric? Thanks

They are all metric, though a 13mm and a 1/2” are interchangeable and sometimes one or the other will fit a given head better based on how close the tolerance the bolt manufacturer held. The threads are all metric. I can't think of any bolt head that would be SAE, unless some type of after market part has been added.

Hi, I am new to reddit and havent figured out all the ins and outs so forgive me if this is a repost or a post of no interest to this subreddit. I am currently going to community college for Diesel Technology and I wanted to know what you, diesel community, use more, SAE or Metric? All I have seen is metric on it. Don't forget that some sizes come close to cross over: 5/16= 8mm 1/2= 13mm 3/4= 19mm Probably more, but I would (personally) never use the SAE on a metric or the other way around.

The Borg are selling lifetime warranty tools but as I found out with my Sears Craftsman and Wards Power Kraft tools Lifetime is linked to the financial stability of the outfit backing the warranty.

Even my 80's Dodges are metric except for body fasteners and plumbing.

13 mm close to 1/2 in. some 14mm will fit 9/16 some won't, 15mm sometimes will work for 9/16 but it depends on the fastning torque. always use the correct fiting wrench or socket and you will save yourself a lot of grief in Not knowing what you are dealing with, lots of times when we think they used both SAE and Metric on the same engine or whatever, it is because a lot of metric sizes are so close to SAE sizes that we get away with using SAE wrenches and then come across a size that the SAE just does work on and we grab the metric wrenches.

France, Germans, and Switzerland would not agree to this Unified National Thread standard (no surprise), and came up with their own "Metric" Standard. It used a pitch angle of 60 degrees, but metric dimensions and divisions.

I’ll go ahead and say I’d wish they’d just chuck SAE stuff entirely! I’ve been around awhile, and I don’t EVER think I’ve owned a vehicle that wasn’t metric, going all the way back to my first 10-speed. Excluding airplanes and Harleys, I’m not sure what 2006-04-01 2008-12-15 The difference between SAE and USCS — is that USCS (and Imperial) are systems of units (e.g.
